Limb-er up for a legless adventure
It's a depressing fact of life that should you become a majorly successful human being, you'll face an inevitable downfall that will leave you a laughing stock to the cretins whom once worshipped you, now desperately trying to slam you. Rock stars have succumb to sod's law, estate agents have their minor tumbles and as NeverDead proves, noble demon hunting knights of yore can also very easily spiral into a multiple century downfall.

Bryce Boltzmann was once as stereotypically noble as heroes come, a brave strong, and witty knight who easily sliced and diced his way through evil. Of course, that was before the demon prince of hell Astaroth defeated him and gifted him with the curse of immortality. Half a millennium on, depressed by his failings, the fall of human decency and the rise of sub-par Nando's outlets, he's become a wisecracking sleazeball, trading his shining armour i n for a more tattered garb. The only thing that's stayed the same is his love for slicing demons into confetti, so much so he now crushes them for the government, and with the impending return of some rather hellish creations inbound, his hobby could really come in handy right about now.

I guffawed at this concept of immortality at first, ...

The Good: A.I. partner fairly responsive...
The Bad: Terrible production values destroy every aspect of this game, Has taken the worst aspects of video games from the early 90's and done nothing to improve upon them, Bewilderingly story that no one can truly care for, Lack of checkpoints add to the already repetitive gameplay, Soundtrack plays the same admittedly creepy track for every level, Awful voiceovers, Simple puzzles, Combat sections are shockingly terrible

Amy Amy Amy Amy Amy
A digital nightmare
Ho ho, you rascals at Vectorcell, trying to alter my psychopathic hermit perspective of humanity. I frequently rage at A.I. partners, usually for around about 27 minutes before grabbing their metaphorical leash, Indy-whipping a high structure and watching them suffocate to make up for the mental anguish I've just been through. Amy, however, is an 8 year old challenged child, and not only can I not lose my rag with her for moral principles, she actually does exactly what I tell her to. Although if I was trapped in a world as shoddy as this one, I'd be nothing more than a puppet begging for help myself...

Amy has been cradled with tepid hype over the past few months, building upon a damn respectable formula of Ico + zombies. Taking care o f Amy is Lana, a woman trying to get the gifted young girl as far awa y from a sinister corporation as possible. Unfortunately, what lies between them and safety is legions of ravenous undead and mercenaries...and glitches...and screen tear...and a camera latched to a bloody gnat...and the overwhelming feeling of being trapped in purgatory from beginning to end. Before these horrid realisations entered my brain, I had set my hopes high as I pressed start.

And then the young girl did an unsettling scribble of events to come, ...

Jurassic Park: The Game | Review | Playstation Network | 19/01/2012

Gameplay: Gameplay - 4 out of 10 4
Graphics:   Graphics - 6 out of 10 6
Sound:     Sound - 4 out of 10 4

The Good: Faithful to the film, Characters look great, QTE's actually work really well when you're fleeing dinos...
The Bad: ...but don't work so well when you'e simply trying to open a door, Mundane characters and slow story, Some marring technical errors

Jurassic Park: The Game Jurassic Park: The Game Jurassic Park: The Game Jurassic Park: The Game Jurassic Park: The Game
Is it worth a revival, or should it be left extinct?
Call me paranoid, but alongside building 10,000 volt electric fences to house dinosaurs, I'd dangle a nuclear warhead over my 50-foot carnivore infested theme-park just in case. Although scientists may be intelligent enough to bring dinosaurs back from the dead, they're only human, and therefore too stupid to comprehend an inevitable breakout. Still, it's far easier to criticise the cretins on screen when you're not the one doing the running, and Jurassic Park:The Game sets out to stop know-it-alls screaming about impending danger, and start just generally screaming.

Remember that bumbling cretin of a 'nemesis' Dennis Nedry, the butterfingers destined for unimpressive slaughtering? The can of dinosaur embryos he tried so hard to get away with lies coated in dirt and floating in sub-plot limbo ripe for plucking. Set during and after the events of the first film, The G ame focuses on the trials and tribulations of those left behind, but also those greedy and moronic enough to fetch their hands on those million dollar embryos. Of course, with a fresh batch of carnivores and an exciting yet alarming sounding 'mystery dinosaur' roaming the island, simply surviving is going to be something of an ordeal.

In a rare move for a Telltale game, you're rarely ever locked in a room with nothing but a whisk, ...

The Good: Same old charms as ever, Loads of puzzles to solve, Great array of new characters
The Bad: Some rather familiar sounding puzzles and mini-games creep in, Story lacks the hindsight many prequels relish in

Professor Layton and the Spectres Call Professor Layto n and the Spectres Call Professor Layton and the Spectres Call Professor Layton and the Spectres Call Professor Layton and the Spectres Call
After visiting the future, Layton takes a trip to the past
Taking a hint from the Star Wars films, Professor Layton has to ask himself a very difficult question. Where do you go when you've become so emotionally invested in some of the most loveable characters ever created that you've shelled out your heart on a silver plater? You travel back to the beginning of their trials and tribulations together and find out how it all began, with a brand new trilogy of prequel titles. Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call attempts to answer even more puzzling conundrums, whilst clearing up any discrepancies between the relationship of a mastermind professor and a young chi ld. But seeing as we already know where Layton got his infamous hat.. .do we really need to know any more about the ultimate gentleman?

Professor Hershel Layton is completely apprenticeless, but that's the least of his worries right now. A new assistant has turned up on his doorstep unexpectedly, his office is in a state and to top it off, he's received a distressing letter from a stranger in the town of Misthallery. Succumbing to the might of a monstrous spectre laying waste to the town, Layton and his self-established assistant Emmy arrive in Misthallery to consult the oracle of the town, ...

All Zombies Must Die! | Review | Playstation Network | 04/01/2012

Overall:     Overall - 6 out of 10 6
Gameplay: Gameplay - 6 out of 10 6
Graphics:   Graphics - 7 out of 10 7
Sound:     Sound - 7 out of 10 7

The Good: Great zombie blasting fun with weapon crafting, Great visual style and audio quirks, Humour can be a hit...
The Bad: ...and a miss, Constant fetch quests dull very quickly, No online multi-player

All Zombies Must Die! All Zombies Must Die! All Zombies Must Die! All Zombies Must Die! All Zombies Must Die!
Pretty self explanatory really
...it's fairly hard to write an opening paragraph for a game when it lays its cards on the table from the title alone. All zombies certainly must die, there's no denying that, but All Zombie Must Die! adds a little spice to executions with electrified shotgun shells, radioactive SMG's and ray guns. Optional names consisted of 'Pimp My Firearm', but apparently that's just too vague.

The final zombie invasion on 2011 has begun, and it all feels rather familiar. Zombies have risen, and an intrepid foursome must use anything in their grasp to ensure they don't become lunch. However, the group of misfits certainly don't look like they want to be in each others company. An overly zealous gamer who has no grasp of reality, his ex-girlfriend, a scientist high in intelligence and low on friends...and an extra terrestrial.

A solid dual stick shooter at heart, All Zombies Must Die! also juggles many an RPG element with it. Blasting away ro tting hordes stacks up the XP to spend in traditional aspects of RPG survival. Stocking up on loot, however, allows you to craft your own improvised weapons and modify your standard zombie slaying arsenal with glorious status ailments. Shelling out in elemental upgrades saps the seriousness out of crafting systems generated by the likes of Dead Island, ...
